My 1971 88" FFR Lightweight has in the past had problems with the charging circuit. The ammeter now indicates a good charge current on steady running and the voltage across the battery terminals rises to around 27v after startup. However, the relatively new batteries lose charge if the vehicle is only used for short, winter runs when lights, heaters and wipers are in use. Is it possible that the charge system is only giving a partial re-charge? Is there a good method for improving the charging performance?
