I was advised 12 months ago not to buy chromed wheels and I didn't. However, like a fool I bought chrome wheel nuts to go with my painted Disco "like" wheels. The wheels are fine the nuts have gone rusty! I know it's no consolation but buy some nice painted wheels and (in UK terminology) "zinc and clear passivated" wheel nuts.
