We are 2nd owners of a 1991 Range Rover. We have owned it for 3 years. We purchased the vehicle from a reputable RR dealer with 60k on it. I've logged about 30k miles since then. We really like the vehicle but be prepared for expensive upkeep. The dealer inadvertently gave us a couple of invoices with the previous owners name and address. Of course my curiosity got the best of me and I contacted them. I just wanted a little information on the vehicles history. They also liked the RR but felt the repair and upkeep expenses were prohibitive. Here's some of the repairs that we have run into:
steering box replacement
brakes and rotors, all around (normal)
alternator, twice(dealer made partial pay. on #2)
replace battery due to alternator problems
sticking door locks
ignition(getting ready to go)
replaced windshield (rock damage, normal but extreme $$$)
Please don't think that I'm whinning. We really like our Rover and we're going to keep it. Just go in with your eyes open. Check out Haynes manuals for repairs at amazon.com and of course the internet is a great place for help.
