First point: ALL RR / Disco / Defenders are in PERMANENT 4WD. Presumably when you say that you put it in "full time 4WD" you mean that you had locked the centre differential? Be careful! Only use the diff lock (small lever next to gear change lever - to left (towards LHD driver) when the terrain is slippery i.e. snow / mud etc. With the centre diff locked and on tarmac with normal grip you will wreck the transfer / gearbox. UK Defenders and old Series usually have mediocre heaters, my NAS 90 Defender, however, has a super efficient heater which it needs with a rag top. All UK and presumably US Range Rovers don't have a heating problem. If the heater is not efficient the first step with all the "Rover" V8's from 1972 on, is to ensure that there are no air locks in the system. Over the years "Rover" have fitted different ways of extracting the air! On my 3.9 litre there is a black plastic plug on top of the engine which needs to be opened to extract air bubbles. Look in your manual it may be different or situated differently to the 3.9 litre. If this doesn't work send another message. Don't know anything about cruise control!
