.)This is not good. This is consistent with an engine that has a bearing going bad on one of the rods and/or one of the crankshaft journals. Has the engine been run low on oil? Any mechanic worth his salt will know this sound immediately. If you took it to tntlr or bear valley they should have known what it was, assuming that this is indeed your problem which it certainly sounds like. Unfortunately this won't be cheap to fix.

.)Air should not be re-entering the system at all, unless you have a pretty sizeable leak somewhere. Are you losing coolant? When an engine begins to overheat it is almost always due to a loss of coolant or low coolant level. First check for leaks. Second make sure that the system is full when cool. Drive the vehicle until hot, let cool, and refill the system. 99% of the time this will eventually get all of the air out of any system. It just requires several drive and recheck routines.

.)Just because you had to replace your radiator does not mean that the previous owner overheated the engine. It might not mean anything. Was it clogged up, or just leaking?

.)I can't help you with the codes, I am an engine man not a computer wiz. DO NOT regularly push your engine hard if you have a bad bearing (see number 1.) you will certainly do additional damage.

.)A short block includes the rotating parts (crank, rods, pistons) but no cams or heads. A long block has the cams and heads but neither has manifolds or distributors. Long blocks cost more but are nicer if you are less mechanically inclined.
