i remeber a teacher at school in scotland that told me that the best way to get something like this out is to get a drill and drill a whole into the center of the stud and get a tap and die set and put reverse threads into the center of the stud, then once the tap is all the way in it will start to undo the broken stud. i.e. as you tighten the tap it going the same way as to undo the stud. hope this helps, bit time consuming but its a surefire safe way to do it.
