Maybe we should post this where everyone can see it.... One more time: If your swivels are in top condition, you DO NOT have to drain / refill after wading in water (water inside swivel is caused by wornout swivel assy). New LR "grease" isn't really grease, but a molly type heavy liquid (wgt unknown at this time). I do not like it personly... as it will not lube Railko Bushings (since it's too think). All Rovers come with 90w gearoil in swivels from factory. As an up-date, and to slow possible weeping seals (not leaking ones, these should be changed immediately) we fill them with 140w gear oil (in summer climates only, as in West Coast). It is suggested that they be refilled with 90w in winter months (ie: snow belt). However I was recently in ZERO-degree (f) weather with Disco with 140w swivel oil, no problems (but in continued cold driving 90w is HIGHLY suggested). The grease stems from an "expert" at LRNA who's trying to shortcut the swivel problem. Problem ins't the lube, but those who are working on the cars... Dealer Mechanics who are either A) Not good mechanics to begin with, B) Not trained very well, or C) Both! as a former LR employee of the 1970s & 1990s and a LR Specialist shop owner who works on all type of LR products every day..... Well you get the point. MG West Coast British, Livermore, CA USA
