SRS harness and ECU (1995 Disco)

SRS light came on after battery went dead as a result of alternator going out and leaving four way flashers on; took it in to l/r center and they ran diagnostics and shut the light off
light came on next day again; took it back in and l/r center gave estimate of $1,748 for new SRS harness and ECU (brain) and labor
not covered by my extended warranty
area 3 service rep thinks it's possibly on the harness and got l/r to supply the harness if i'll pay the labor BUT the ECU is all my cost if it is bad anyone encountered this problem??? electrical/electronic breakdowns in less than four years and 87,000
miles: alternator, starter, two oil sensor units, brake switch, window switch, fan switch, climate control reostat, clock, numerous interior and exterior lights...ad infintim; transfer case work twice and now overdrive is slipping--fortunately should be covered under extended warranty just can't find a center that isn't booked through the holiday season can anyone else relate to this? thanks Happy Holidays David H.
