I was always told that a spread in the SAE should not exceed 30 points : 10w40 is okay but 10w30 is better. Most of the new cars do not even recommend 10w40 anymore. The problem is that the spread is done by adding polymers which do not have lubrication properties.... Use one of the search engine -metacrawler- and the word oil/viscosity-
In the winter i would rather go for a 5w30, and in the summer switch to 20W50, especially with such a high mileage, it will keep your oil pressure higher. Tak bedzie lepiej.
