Converting to UK/European Standard

I am a returning expat and have had an overseas spec Discovery (98) since new (bought in Saudi), and want to import it into the UK
Two issues:
Issue 1:
Quotes from LR dealers here in Bahrain are price ridiculous. Plus often, they do not use LR accredited mechanics. (LR to note!)
Can someone give some leads on workshops specialising in making a change to UK/European standard for import.
Issue 2:
What is the cheapest way to ship a LR from Bahrain to UK.
My quotes for shipping containers come to over 3K pounds.
Could drive it I suppose, but that would take time (min. 1month and/or sponsorship from someone like LR!
