Make sure any connections to vehicle ground (earth) are clean and secure. If they have been plated and mechanical cleaning removes the protection make sure you use new connections or coat with vaseline etc (petroleum jelly). It's a fair bet that when other electrical components "dim" the offender is a bad earth. Your problem could be in the doors, ignition switch, window switches or even the battery earth. A good tip for cleaning battery terminals is to undo the cables and boil, I mean BOIL, a kettle of tap water next to the battery and then carefully pour over connections and battery terminals. Don't do it over your best carpet - her indoors will get very upset! Brings connections up clean and bright - no better way!
