Both my NAS90 and a friends Defender 110 have been fitted with in-cab adjustable Rancho 9000 shocks. This is mainly for off-roading but also helps when towing, you can increase the damping rate at the rear and reduce at the front. Last Saturday I fitted 1 inch lift springs to my NAS90 which were not longer but had increased stiffness (thicker wire diameter). With my adjustable shocks I reduced the damping rate to counteract the increased spring rate to give a better on-road ride. I can also reduce the shocks to zero pressure on motorways (freeway / interstate) which gives a nice soft ride in straight lines or on our twisty Sussex roads jack the pressure up high and I have the characteristics of a VW Golf GTi (Rabbit in USA?)but with very stiff damping giving a harsh ride with perplexed looks on the faces of drivers not used to Land Rovers travelling so fast!
Only one problem they cost big bucks (about £650 in UK + fitting).
