Just up my street this one! Although my truck is an escaped NAS 90 with 3.9 litre EFi the following tale may be of interest. For weeks after buying my truck I searched everywhere for a hole to put the wading plug. All I could find was a small hole in the bellhousing casting underneath the clutch area - not anywhere big enough to stick a plug! My local dealer, who I bought it from second-hand scratched their heads and after many phone calls to Lode Lane came up with the fact that the Americans can't be trusted to keep putting plugs in and out of the bellhousing because if they trashed engines the consumer protection laws in US would bankrupt L-R! So L-R have put a small hole to not let much water in but big enough to let any water out! So why not put a small hole in your wading plug......if you believe the previous tale? Whilst off-roading it's vital that you put the plug IN. When you are back on the road it's vital that you take the plug OUT. As for the breather do you mean the front and rear axle, gearbox and transfer box breathers? On my truck L-R positioned the rear axle breather just above the chassis, although the other 3 came to the rear of the engine and after a few months I found that the rear axle was lubricated with not only oil...... I have extended the rear axle breather pipe (it's imperial 0.25 inches O.D)to the rear of the engine and connected all 4 breathers to a manifold and from there a tube into the roll cage with a breather in the roll cage top. This is not strictly correct since tapped holes in roll cages are not allowed for competition - but I don't do competitions. I have a snorkel fitted but I don't think it's a good idea to run breathers inside the snorkel which could be at a partial vacuum and suck the oil out of your transmission / engine. Use the snorkel to support the breather and bend the top over as L-R do on the transmission (stick end of plastic tube in boiling water and gently bend). If you want details of the manifold and some tubing send me an E:Mail or phone 01444-870386. This has taken ages to write with one finger - I broke my wrist yesterday on some ice whilst pushing my blooming Suzuki SJ410! I knew I should have stuck to only Land Rovers!
