First, let's look at the four things an engine needs to run. Fuel, spark, compression, and correct ignition timing. Each problem must be completely eliminated before the next problem is looked at. First remove several spark plugs, ground them somewhere on the engine, and have an assistant crank the engine. If you have a nice blue spark, move on to fuel. The fuel pump should be getting 12V, however, if you have been cranking the motor over for a while and run the battery down, you will see less than that. Cranking voltage to the pump is less important than running voltage at the pump. After the fuel pumps condition is verified, make sure that your fuel filter is clean. Fuel flow can also be checked at the engine, if the pump is suspect. Compression is a factor only on high mileage worn out engines, we can ignore this for now. When the engine quit, were there any loud noises, belts breaking etc.??? You should know if you have broken your timing belt, that is basic. However, if the timing belt is ok, the only other way to upset the timing would be to rotate the distributor, which I hope has not been done. Your problem is probably no spark, or no fuel. If you have no spark, change your Ignition Module. Most people forget this little guy, and he controls the spark just as much as the coil does. Also, make sure you have 12V at the coil, while cranking.
