I bought a 90 RR back in 1996 w/80K miles and with the exceptions of a few things I've been happy overall. The most costly repair came a year after I purchased it was the German "ZF" transmission. I've been told that Land Rover also put GM transmissions in RR but I've yet to see one.It put me back $3200.00. My power steering pump has leaked since the day I bought the RR but the mechanic told me a tip and a very good one. Check the Power Steering fluid holder often to make sure it doesn't drain completely out. The dealer uses DextronIII/Mercon transmission fluid to because of the lubricants for this and is very cost effective. To replace this unit is around $1200.00 to top off the fluid is about $1.20 per quart and I go thru one about every two to thrre months. I ask a lot of questions to avoid costly repairs to my favorite mechanic at the dealer. I do change my oil and filters including air filter every 3/4 K miles. I have 124K on it now and absolutely love my RR. It's a very classy/fun machine to drive! I keep it clean inside and out probably more than most people. Pick up a Haynes RR mechanic book. It can come in handy.
