sales of NAS '97 D90 successful!?

I read an airticle on '97 D90 exported to Japan recently.
It says Land Rover Japan planed 500 of them to import but
changed to 600 later.
In spite of the reasonable price tag, they still have some
rigs to sell and it has not been very successful in Japan.
The magagine suggested that the reason why LRJ changed to 600
was not beacuse of promising market in Japan(this was the first
Defender LRJ imported and this is limited deal) but
because of execced rigs from US.
I am sure there are some small differences in '97 D90 in Japan
and NAS '97 D90 but basically the same(engine,auto trans,left handle
...).
Was NAS '97 D90 successful ?
