those sensors either work or they don't.
You can't dia if they are "going bad".
The problem with the later 96 -on is sometimes the ECU.
Can't tell ya about the other without hearing. It normall WON'T put water in cylinder, instead cyliner compresses cooling system, which can result in bulged/blown radiator.
If someone overheated I surely wouldnt of bought it. Sugg cooling PSI test. Is coolant leaking out of heads? you 'll see it if it is
