Mileage is a bit low but not uncommon fault

Well, I'm sorry to say that this failure isn't unusual, in fact it happened on my 90 at 100k miles. I'm surprised it happened at the mileage on yours but obviously LR aren't. From what I recall, the failure is due to the part not getting proper lubrication due to its design and there is a mod available in the UK from one of the engineering co.s to remedy the problem. Having said that, it isn't a major job to fix (ukp400 or so). It isn't the sort of thing that you need a franchised dealer to do but I recognise that in the US there are fewer decent independents so you may have no choice. LR design and build 'em well, but not perfect!
