If the stock, unhardened seats are still in place, you can run unleaded too--but you'll need a valve job within about 5,000 miles. Without the lubricating properties that lead additives supply, the slamming of the valves into the seats quickly destroys them. Unfortunately, I know of no way to tell if hardened seats are in place except by removing the head--but any mechanic could confirm which seats are installed with the head off. There are lead replacement additives available, but they would be extremely expensive to use on a regular basis, unless you don't put very many miles on your 109. Hope this helps
