110 V8 converted to 200 Tdi- temperature Gauge

Posted by Ivor on December 23, 2003 at 17:23:32:

Hello,

I recently bought a Land Rover 110 with a 200 Tdi engine. It was orginally a V8 but was converted.

The engine is running fine and it is not boiling up, but the temperature gauge reads up in the red when the engine warms up. I suspect that this is to do with the electrical resistance of the sender unit. I think that the original gauge is looking for the resistance of the sender from a V8, but the 200 Tdi engine's sender has a different resistance.

The gauge reads cold when the enging is cold.

Does this make sense to you?, Or have you come across this before? If so, do you know whether a V8's sender will fit into the 200's engine. If it doesn't is there another sender that will do the job.

Thanks and Merry Christmas

Ivor
