Defender 90,

I have had work done on the blower speed lever which had a sticking cable to the heater and would not allow the fan to be turned on. The dealer fixed the lever and cable but now tells me that the fan motor now has a short causing the fuse to blow. The motor was working perfectly before the speed lever stuck so I am wondering if the dealer's mechanic had to access the fan housing to fix the lever and could he have caused the fan to stick or caused the short. How do I trouble shoot this problem? I am very suspect due to the fact they initially did work on perfectly working defrost and temp levers due to poor shop communication.
