This guy is a real piece of work.

My partners & I ran an off the beaten track diving school in Malibu, CA. We had a custom course where dents scratches, etc were guarenteed not to occur. Our school taught people how to drive responsively without damage to car or enviroment. We offered gourmet breakfast & lunch served to order. Our instructors were all well seasoned, some with past Camel trophy experience and our head instructor even trains the US forces. We closed down the school because even in the LA metro area where ther are more LR products sold than anywhere in the country we could not get interest.

The point to the whole thing is 85% of the SUV owners around the US never see a dirty road other than the puddles on the way to the market. However, there are some who see more and are responsible in how they drive and then there are are others who ruin it for the rest of us, because they feel that power, speed, dust & rock is the only way to go. Slow is best. A driver is one who can go up an incline without any damage to their enviroment.

I have owned LR series & RR since 1964. They are a wonderful vehicle, but like all vehicles which are built to be used they do cost to maintain. Our present RR has over 135000 miles. We have driven to places which most LR & RR owners only dream about or see in the advertisements. As far as scratches and dents we only have two dents and mostly shopping cart dings by the inconsiderate in the parking lot. Dent one was in Death Valley coming off a rock ledge not quite slow enough. We were crawling, but needed a slower crawl. And the second was caused in a wind storm when a branch came of a Redwood and put a small dent in the bonnet.

It is true that it sometimes costs a lot of money to fix the car, but so does any fine piece of equipment. I do most work myself, but when I can't do it it goes to the shop.

If you want run of the mill it's cheap. All vehicles will break if abused all will require maintenance. I have an old addage

BUY CHEAP FIX OFTEN BUY GOOD FIX WHEN NEEDED

There are two types of people the types that complain all the time that the glass is half empty and the ones who go thru life seeing the glass half full or better.

Get a life.
