I have had the same problem and have not wanted to spend the $400 to replace it. I have been looking for a wrecked 89 so maybe I could buy off the back screen & frame.

In the interm since my rear window never locks anyway I took a Drummel to the whole thing, cleaned out the rust and then repacked it with bondo. I then primed it and painted. This has worked fine for two year intervals. I have to do it again.

This might not be the most glorious thing to do to your Rangie, but it sure beats the $400 fix.

The vehicle has been doing fine and has been cross country twice now with a lot of the trecks be off the beaten path. My wife & I and our dog have crossed the Continental Divide more times than we can count. Some of thes crossings have been above 13,000+.

We love the vehicle and have made a lot of changes to it to make it even more off road capabil.
