Disco 2000 Horn going off when _very_ cold

Posted by Robin Durnell on November 23, 2003 at 02:56:01:

Folks,

I'm hoping one of you has encountered this odd problem. Last winter my Disco '00's horn started sounding spontaneously, usually in the middle of the night, and only when the temperatures began dropping to around 20 degrees Fahrenheit. The only way to stop it was to remove the fuse. When I took it in for regular servicing, I mentioned this problem and the mechanic said he'd take a look but never found anything.

Fast forward to tonight and it just went off again, and the temperature dropped today to around 20 or below so the temp factor seems consistent. I removed the fuse. Now I could just live w/ this until spring but unfortunately, removing the horn fuse also makes night driving a bit trying as the interior dash control lights are also gone.

Any ideas? Anyone?

Thanks,

-robin
