In the UK Disco uses 3.9 litre and R-R uses 4.0 litre. However, there is no cubic capacity change! L-R probably use the 4.0 litre as a marketing ploy because it sounds more upmarket! Main difference is that the Disco engine (as fitted also to my NAS90)uses conventional coil and electronic ignition whereas the R-R engine (4.0 litre) uses the twin spark ignition which is totally different and doesn't need a distributor. In fact the anniversary Defender which in many ways is my NAS90 in a horrible two tone blue uses the 4.0 litre engine so there is a blanking plate where the distributor would be on my 3.9 litre and no coil!!
Give Mike Green an E-Mail to make sure my facts are correct.
I think that apart from the ignition your manual will be OK????
