D90 Transmission Grinding. Posted by David on November 05, 1998 at 20:12:37: I have a Defender 1995 Defender 90 and love the truck but it seems to have problems with second gear. I have taken it to the Shop in Denver but they said there is nothing wrong with the transmission. The tranny grinds quite a bit when cold. When warm the grind is present but seems to go away as high rpm shifts. Any advice would be appreciated. The truck goes out of warrenty in March. The dealer also said that the D90 already had a one new transmission. Are dealers motivated or discouraged to fix these issues under warrenty?
