I live about 3 doors down from Gumtree Enterprises, if you live Land Rovers in the UK you will know them. John Bowden the boss bought one of the first 5 door Disco's back in 1990? and it zooms around taking kids to school, shopping, holidays no problems great vehicle. One of my customers has a leased 1995 Disco which has been a real dog, with water leaks, rattles etc. Hates it! A friend has a 1991 Disco which has rear lockers, massive winch, pulls caravans, tows Range Rovers out of the mud - he loves it! I think L-R have now got rid of the nasty bits in the Disco II. In their defence it did take off in popularity when it was designed as a stop-gap for the cheaper R-R end of the market. Looking at the spec of the Disco II with better body fit, less roll in corners, 7 seats, hill descent etc it's a lot better spec than the R-R! If L-R can keep the quality now available with the Freelander and build on the engineering input from BMW watch out the Japanese! Extra 2 seats in the back can be folded out of the way but early reports from journalists are that the seats are difficult to stow - pre-production version? Hey I might be tempted myself having read the above!
