I have owned my Discovery for a little over three years and in that time I have personally spent roughly $6,500 in maintenance and repairs. I purchased an ectended warranty with my vehicle under which I am still currently covered. Between my extended warranty and the original factory warranty the bill has been roughly $16,000. I am at the point where I can't make a trip longer than three hours in my Discovery without needing a major warranty job done afterwards. A source of frusteration is that people who work for Landrover, when confronted with this abhorrent maintenance record, all seem to say: "It's because you have a 1995 model and besides, it's a standard." I am currently drafting a letter to Landrover Canada to see if they will in some way stand behind the product which they tout as the most reliable and dependable. I do love the truck and when it isn't needing repair it is a terrific vehicle. It seems that in the next 20,000km I will have to get rid of it because I can't afford to own it without a warranty.
