Safety Questions

Posted by mangler on October 31, 1998 at 18:00:19:

I am just learning about Rovers. I am interested in buying either a 109 or a 110.

I have 3 children and am concerned about their safety. I am probably more concerned than the average person, since I am a firefighter/medic and have seen some vehicles and occupants that didn't fare well in a crashes.

I understand that the bodies are aluminum and I am wondering if anyone has heard how they do in side impacts. Do they have anything substancial behind the aluminum doors to protect the occupants? Have you ever seen one hit in the side?

I am also interested in how they do in rollovers. Will the vehicle itself withstand a rollover without threatening the occupants or do you need a rollbar system.

I've also heard of an external full roll cage that can be installed. Is that helpful with either rollovers or side impacts.

Do 110's offer any more protection that the old Series Rovers?

If you can help me with any of these concerns, I'd appreciated the help.

Thanks,
The Mangler
