300Tdi fitted into '85 RR

Posted by KK on October 23, 1998 at 17:07:48:

I recently had my 1985 Range Rover fitted with a second-hand engine, gearbox, radiator & intercooler out of a damaged Defender '90. The mechanic re-used the existing V8 rear silencer.
I am pleased with the economy (around 30 mpg) but I feel that the acceleration is down (compared to my 200 Tdi Discovery) and there is a noticeable 'flat spot' when revving through the gears. Up to the 'flat spot' it is reasonable and when it passes it there is a noticeable pick up in power again.

Suggestions please - is it boost pressure/wastegate actuator, or is the V8 exhaust box causing my problem ? Any help would be appreciated.
