I agree. I always maintain mine properly, infact as its a diesel I change the oil @ 3k between services, and I have no problems. I use a specialist (Richmon 4X4, Chigwell, Essex 01708 688502) rather than a franchised dealer because he seems more knowledgable and he's an enthusiast and does the basic service without putting expensive items on I did'nt know I needed ? He will point out anything that IS needed and ask if you want it done. So no surprises at collection time.
I tow a trailer with mine and its used for too many short runs by the wife. But to-date it has been faultless. I was put off of owning one of these for years by their alleged reputation, but since owning one I have been pleasantly surprised by its reliability.
Meeting other owners it seems some people have a "if it aint bust dont fix" attitude. Which is probably responsible for a lot of questions over their reliability.
As my old Pappy used to say," you only get back what you put in"!!!!
