HELP!!!!

Posted by WOULD SOME KIND SOUL GIVE ME ADVICE ON REPLACING A ROTTEN FRAME ON A SERIES IIA? on October 21, 1998 at 20:17:52:

I am considering the purchase of a 1968 Series IIA 88 Landie. The car is original, runs, drives, and appears in decent shape save for a rotten frame (other than that, how was the theatre, Mrs. Lincoln?). My background is restoring MG sports cars. I would be grateful if some kind soul who is experienced in restoring these cars could E-Mail me with advice as to the following questions:
1. What is involved in replacing the frame, and what should it cost? Is it worth it? Can one relatively experienced amateur restorer handle this in his own garage with a complement of tools and an engine hoist?
2. The car is located in Atlanta, Georgia, and the asking price is $3,000. Is this reasonable for a running, original car with a corroded frame that will require extensive restoration?
3. What else should I look out for when purchasing a Landie?

The MG community is quite active and helpful in forums such as these. I am certain that the Landie community is the same, and I thank each of you in advance for your advice. Let me know if ever I can return the favor. Thank you.
