Negative Camber\ wheels leaning in?

Posted by aguaknot on March 07, 2003 at 13:27:34:

I hope someone can help! My 96 disco has 87000 miles. I just purchased new tires, had 4 new tie rods installed, the front wheel bearings repacked, and an alignment. The shop said they could not adjust camber, which is true. I have a -1.2 camber on both front wheels. The inward wheel lean is noticable to the eye. I also still have play in the steering, and get a shimmy/shake in the front end when I hit a bump at highway speed. Also, when I put the disco in park, it rolls forward a bit when I release the brake, this may be related to the "driveline clunk" many of these vehicles have. I have checked the CV's (turn wheel sharp either way and put it on the floor) and do not here the popping sound. When looking at the swivel ball joints, the housing(were the seals are)is not riding perpindicular on the ball, which seems to represent the negative camber. Could my problem still be CV's, or could it be the swivel joints? How can I tell, I must only repair what is needed, due to thin wallet! Please lend me your knowledge and experience before I chew up my new Michelins. Thanks
