Locking diff for 1988 Range Rover Classic Posted by J.B. Wilson on October 16, 1998 at 13:06:38:
My carrier in my rear diff for my spider gears became wallered out and the pin that retains the gears snapped in half, allowing the pieces to slide out and contact the pinon gear. I have a price from the local center to repair the damage, I am investigateing a locking diff as I was thinking about the upgrade anyway, and I don't want to spend the money twice. 1. Is the risk of broken drive train components as great in the rear as in the front with a locking diff? 2. I like ARB's becuase of the on/off option, but don't like the price, how do detroits and the trutrac engage? 3. Who makes the axles for the Range rover 1988 classic? as every time I look on a website it's Ford, Jeep, Toyota and then a gaggle of axle numbers, mostly Dana? Hope to hear from you all
