I shoud start off by saying that you are a very angry individual. Whatever frustration you have derived from your (I presume) Range Rover, should not be taken out on Land Rover owners en masse.
With that out of the way, I would like to clarify a few of your points. First, a Land Rover can be anything from an early 60's Series II to a 1997 Range Rover. And prices from those vehicles can range from a few thousand to over $60,000 for a fully loaded Range Rover. Now, to say that "Land Rover owners" like to boast about their high maintainance costs is simply untrue. Most Land Rover owners I know love their vehicles and do ALL of their own work. If you think that I am a typical "Land Rover owner", you are sorely mistaken. I bought my 1972 Series III 88" right out of college, with my own money, not Mommy or Daddy's. When I bought the vehicle, I didn't know the first thing about cars. I couldn't identify anything other than the engine when I looked under the bonnet of my truck. However, now, 1 1/2 months later, I have already done a compression test, adjusted the valves, set the timing, and numerous other jobs.
Now, I think it is important to realize that by addressing Land Rover owners, you are talking to a widely varied audience. And further, when you criticize LR owners as a whole, you show both your separation from that group, and your lack of understanding of TRUE Land Rover ownership. Before making sweeping generalizations about LR owners, be sure you know what you are talking about.

Rover on,

Peter W.
