Yes distributor less. You get a spark every revolution (2 strokes) but only need one spark every 2 revolutions (4 strokes), I call it twin spark others call it by other names!
Yes my NAS90 has the stepper at rear of plenum.
If all connections are clean dry and making good contact, especially the stepper motor plug, which on my vehicle is "less than adequate"! then we should wait until you have tried the TPS.
Certainly a bit of a head scratcher!
You could get the fuel pressure checked, not sure if this has been done?
