Question about my Perkin powered SIIa

Posted by Wayne H. on October 14, 1998 at 16:15:10:

I just got a 61 SWB Series IIa powered by Perkin 4-203 diesel. I love my truck....

I think I ran over some mighty big potholes here in Boston last
night. I stoped my truck when I start hearing some clunking noise
behind the driver seat. After a bit of searching, I was shocked when
I discovered that all 4 bolts/nuts that held the drive shaft to the rear diff. had came loose (I was able to turn them with my fingers).
In addition, all five lug nuts on my left rear wheel were very loose as well. In fact, the wheel was rocking in and out for about 1/4" inch, and that was where the clunking noise came from. I tighten all those loosen bolts and nuts the best I can and got home safely. My questions now are:

1) Have I done anything to permantly damage my diff. and/or the rear axle? I drove less than 1-2 miles after I heard the noise.

2) What are the proper torquing values for the drive shaft bolts/nuts?

Thanks in advance,

Wayne
