Discovery Dependability Posted by James Shackelford on October 13, 1998 at 15:00:46: Ever since I drove a Series IIA in Australia I have been in love with Land Rovers. Every chance I get I am reading into the history and progress of Land Rover. Currently I am the owner of a 4Runner (Sorry I ever bought it, too small, IFS, ect). I didn't realize that Disco's where in my price range. I have decided that my next vehicle will be a Disco. Most of the research that I do says that the Discovery is quite dependable. However, someone went out of their way to show me a Comsumers Reports rating that showed the dependability to be terrible. What is the truth? I have heard bad stories and I have heard good. I understand that Land Rovers take more love than most vehicles. I also understand that the Rover will be more expensive to own that my 4Runner. I am prepared to become a committed Land Rover owner, I just want to be fully educated. By the way, after the disco I am setting my sights on a restoration project. James
