Yes I saw it too ,although I wish I had'nt. I get so fed up with their roadtesters inherent ability to slag off everything 4wd saying how unpractical they are, only used by Mums on the school run and for the supermarket trips.
My wife does these very trips in our Discovery. But her primary reason for wanting and using the Disco is the strength of it compared to a small hatchback, should the unthikable happen. My reasons are, I like elevated driving positions and at 6ft 3" I can actually sit up in it, then theres the off-roading side.
Unpractical? I think not. Try getting 2 adults four children 2 push chairs and shopping in a BMW 5 series ( a car they see to favour), No way.
But still the likes of Needell and Clarkson carry on slaging of our trusty, dependable and practical cars, Diesel variants especially.
So what type of cars do these self appointed judges of all thats good in the motor industry favour? Large engined Supercars and very little else.
Now what was it they were saying about unpractical.......
