hydraulic or mechanic winch on discovery

Hello,
has anyone upgraded a hydraulic system for a milemarker mmw9000 winch?? The winch is a strong puller, but the linespeed is terribly slow. Are there any high volume pumps avaiable to fit a 300Tdi with air condition?
Second question: Does anyone know of a PTO suitable for the LT230 of a 1995 Disco with R380 Gearbox? Reason for this is my idea to replace the hydraulic winch with a mechanic winch, for example the old koenig from the SII.
