I can't be of much help with the lights coming on, but I can tell you that 96 and newer are OBDII and they don't have an led under the seat that will read out fault codes. When you say it runs sluggish up hills can you be moe specific? If there is a problem the check engine light will not go out by itself the light would need to be reset by a scan tool. Hopefully you are going to an honest dealer, so many out there that see landrovers come in and think you have money to burn. Where are you located and is there an independent that could service your vehicle? Any other wierd things that happen during the usual daily driving routines. I have found that from reading some of the explanations people write in that only part of the story is given and the root of the problem is ignored. If you want help tell us what is going on in more detail.
