I have located a local engineering shop with expertise in Ford camshafts. They re-profiled my camshaft to a so called "V63" profile. This seems to be a much more suitable camshaft for use in a 4X4. More torque is available at lower revs. Just as a matter of interest. The Ford Essex V6 motor is now available in South Africa in a 3.4 litre version ( 108kW at 4800 rpm and 260Nm at 2800 rpm). It is sold for third party applications and is very cheap ( just over 1000 Pounds)
