Coil sprung chassis for 88" Series IIA

Posted by Eric on September 28, 1998 at 21:27:12:

Ok, here is the deal. A friend of mine has located a Defender 90 chassis and he was told that that will bolt right to my Series IIA body with only minor adjustments. I called East Coast Rover (ERC) and was told that the Defender 90 has a center to center wheel base of 92.5" and that it would not work on my Series IIA and whoever told me this was wrong. I was also told that the way to go is purchase a Designa Chassis for a 88" Rover weather it is from them or not.

Can anyone shed a little light on this one? I am toying with the idea of putting a new coil sprung chassis under my 1969 Series IIA and I want to do it right.

Has anyone went through this before?

Who is right?

Does anyone have any experience with Designa Chassis as far as strength and workmanship?

Thanks in advance for any help that is submitted.

Looking for answers,
Eric
