how do i get my radio aerial out?

G'day,
Was inching down a track in a forest. A small twig caught my radio aerial (i know i know- i should have put it down) and snapped the bastard off!
I have bought a nice flexible one from the auto shop, but cant work out how to get the old one out (1994 defender 110). Before i go to el-destructo mode, i thought i'd seek some advice
