The factory installed radio on my 1995 Discovery was manufactured by Pioneer. The model number is AMR2772. It is also listed as KEX-910zrv. I would assume that this didn't change for 97.

I had a very difficult time removing it and almost broke the face plate....so I ended up taking it to the dealer. The removal system is not typical of other Pioneers that I am familiar with. Call your local audio shop (Circuit City, etc.) to see if they can remove it for you. If not, then you will probably have to mail-order the tool from Land Rover service, the dealer, or an online vendor.

Also, the unit in the dash is just the pre-amp. The power amp is located under the passenger seat. Check the fuses and connections at the power amp before you remove the dash unit.
