Dist MUST be removed and stripped... you pulled the mech advance unit apart when you removed the rotor. All LUCAS dist MUST be lubed every now & again by removing rotor and squirting oil down center. The ONLY way to fix it correctlt is to remove dist and strip it all, clean it/lube it, reassem mech adv and reassm unit/refit/set timing.
