I have had this very thing happen on my 94 Disco. Beware, the water is probably running all the way down the windscreen pillar and onto the floor behind the footwell moulding. It will make the rubber padding under the carpet very wet, and it is very hard to get dry.
My problem came from a bad window replacement that reused the same exterior rubber seals to save time and money. This was done by the previous owner... Anyway, short of replacing the entire windscreen and all the seals, in the mean time I have resorted to a lot of extra window sealer in a tube. Apply, test, apply more, test, apply even more, and test again.
