When the shaft raised up you probably messed up the weights and springs in the bottom of the distributor. You will need to take the distributor apart and comfirm that everything is in the correct place. Put it back together with a new "top hat". Don't forget to set the air gap when done. There are two ways you cna get a new "top hat". I have been told that the North American part number for the "top hat" is RTC7751. I have never ordered this but I know it is not on the exploded parts list. It is supposed to be around $2.37. The route that I have gone is to order the part number RTC5971. This is also not in the exploded parts diagram and is listed as the distributor insulating cover in the computer. The insulating cover is another part number. RTC5971 comes with everything you will need to rebuild the inside of the distributor including the insulating cover (except for any electronics). The wording on the Land Rover label says "Dist Repair Kit". It is around $25 - $32 and if you are going to take everything apart to put the weights back in their correct position, you might as well replace the wear and tear items at the same time. Hope this helps, and when you put the new rotor back on, smear a little grease or anti-seize on that distributor shaft. Brad H.
