mate , sounds like there is some contamination in the system , either moisture or air , if its moisture , then there will be iicing around the tx valve or orifice near the evapourator (inside) or if its air , then being a non condensible , it just takes up space in the system ,resulting in a less efficient system

both these faults are caused by poor regassing methods , and would require , proper degassing , a minimum of an hour on the vaccuum , then purging of the gauges before introducing the new gas

if you are to do this , it would pay to get a new reciever drier as well(internally contains a dessicant ,for moisture removal)
it also depends on the gas you are running , if it was previously r12 gas and you have switched to 134a or a enviro friendly type that is similar , you will find that it isnt as good as the old r12 ,

also whilst your there , make sure you clean the fins of the condensor and evaporator , as if dirty or clogged , can lead to poor heat transfer ,poor efficiency

low gass , = small foamy bubbles
air content,= large wole bubbles or clear sightglass
ice around tx /inlet to evap= clogged evap or blockage in tx (moistur ,scale dessicant)

good luck
australia ,stuart
