I noticed my friends 200 tdi blew out a large puff of black smoke the other day when he started it up,and so I told him about it, he informs me mine does the same!! I always assumed black smoke was fuel? Is it that both these cars are set up on the rich side . It does seem to be quite common with diesels this puff of black smoke when starting up.
